The 3 and Out uses several RotoViz Apps to uncover significant workload changes; league, team, and player-specific trends; and hidden but powerful statistics.
Welcome back to The 3 and Out! In this week’s edition, we’ll be playing a game called “Guess Who I Am.” We’ve never done this before, but I thought It might be a fun changeup for one of my favorite weeks of the year. The game is pretty simple; I’ll overview a player’s fantasy and statistical output and you try to guess who the player is.
Player 1 – WR
I am a wide receiver who is averaging 13 points per game (PPG) as the WR38. Prior to the season, few fantasy owners expected me to even sniff 10 PPG. Nonetheless, I lead my team in targets and yards per target. In fact, I rank No. 17 among WRs in total targets and ninth in air yards.
Since Week 8, I’ve recorded the 25th highest PPG at my position. While I’ve recorded just a single WR1 performance, I have been solid enough to merit a top-16 average projection in the RotoViz Week 13 GLSP.
Who am I?
Many of you left me for dead. But despite poor quarterback play and a less than favorable situation in Miami, I’ve clawed my way back into relevance. I am DeVante Parker.
Player 2 – RB
I’d place an aggressive bet that you didn’t see me selected prior to Round 5 in any of your 2019 fantasy drafts. This made me a tremendous value for the owners that selected the right running back from my team’s offense.
Currently, I rank third at my position in PPG, averaging more than 20 points. In fact, I’ve finished as an RB1 in 55% of 2019 contests. To boot, I’ve scored 20 or more points six times this season. I’ve amassed 667 yards and six touchdowns as a receiver and have been efficient while doing so averaging 3.8 points over expectation per game.
To be fair, the back half of 2019 hasn’t been as enjoyable as the start of the season. Still, I’ve remained a weapon for my owners and have more than justified my price tag.
Who am I?
I am Austin Ekeler. You might be interested in my splits when playing with and without Melvin Gordon this season.
I can’t deny the discrepancy but don’t forget, Gordon is averaging under 14 PPG.
Player 3 – QB
I entered the season with high expectations and while things haven’t gone as stellar as would have hoped, I’ve finished as a QB1 in my two most recent games. I threw five touchdown passes and added another on the ground in these contests. It’s been nice playing for a team that lets me show off what I can do as a passer. Only nine other passers have recorded more attempts. As a result, I rank 13 in passing yards and 14 in passes completed.
I should probably mention, unfortunately, that those counting stats are misleading. I’ve completed just 60% of the passes I’ve thrown. This ranks 38th and is made worse by the fact that I am throwing to a group of talented players. One of these players is so good that some may even argue he’s the best WR in the game. He’s averaging just 13 PPG and ranks 35th at his position.
Oh yeah, those QB1 performances I mentioned before are not the norm. I’ve scored 20 or more points just four times this year.
Who am I?
I’m Baker Mayfield and I’ve thrown 14 touchdown passes to 13 interceptions this season!
