Before I look to Week 12 it is important to observe if the selection process was effective. Here is a recap of last week’s recommendations. If you need a refresher on what to look for when analyzing kickers, read the Week 2 Fantasy Football Kicker Streaming article.
|Name, Team||Stat Line||Week 10 Rank|
|1||San Francisco Kicker||FG 3/3 XP 3/3||T – 11|
|2||Dan Carlson, Oakland Raiders||FG 2/2 XP 0/1||T – 12|
|3||Dan Bailey, Minnesota Vikings||FG 2/2 XP 3/3||T – 19|
|4||Nick Folk, New England Patriots||FG 1/1 XP 3/3||T – 6|
Not great, not great at all. I guess we are all allowed a down week. At least I didn’t recommend Atlanta running back Brian Hill to anyone this week (although I did start him in a league or two). Week 12 is another opportunity to get better, so let’s look at some of the best options for the week.
Week 12 Streaming Options
All ownership percentages are based on Yahoo leagues. To ensure relevance, only kickers with ownership percentages less than 50% are used.
Younghoe Koo, Atlanta Falcons, 4%
All it took for the Falcons to become good again was signing Koo, who knew? Atlanta enters the week with the second-highest implied point total, and the offense has been clicking as of late. Since the bye week, the Falcons average 318 passing yards a game. There will be plenty of scoring chances again this week against Tampa Bay.
Austin Seibert, Cleveland Browns, 4%
Cleveland faces Miami … that is all. Miami is a favorable matchup for almost anyone in fantasy this year, and the kicker position is no different. Only Tampa Bay has given up more points to the position.
Jake Elliott, Philadelphia Eagles, 16%
The Seahawks defense looked impressive in Week 10 versus the 49ers, but that has not been the norm for the year. The RotoViz NFL Stat Explorer shows just how favorable the matchup against the Seahawks is. While quarterbacks don’t thrive from a QBR standpoint, they do rack up the yards! Look for Philadelphia to move the ball down the field. The Seahawks do have a top 12 red-zone defense, which means more field goal attempts.
Jason Myers, Seattle Seahawks, 26%
The Seahawks are underdogs this week, which is never ideal, but the spread is only two points, and the over/under is the second-highest of the week. Myers has been clutch of late, and while that means little for his upcoming performance, it does mean the coaching staff will be more apt to kick field goals in otherwise questionable situations. Pete Carroll has expressed how he loves kicking field goals, and trusts Myers. While the analytic side of me despises Carroll’s poor game management, it does result in more field goal attempts.
