The 2020 running back class is anchored by a handful of players that have the skills and profiles necessary to be future stars. If you’re lucky enough to draft one of the first four RBs off the board, odds are you’ll be happy with your selection.
Since the combine, we’ve looked at RB speed scores, breakaway rush scores, the 2020 RB Rookie Scouting Index, and player-specific profiles, all of which have informed my final set of pre-draft RB rankings. The exercise of absorbing all of this information, considering its context and meaning, and then actually working through the process of ranking each back is one of my annual favorites. All classes are tricky, but this year is particularly challenging.
As I’m sure RotoViz readers are acutely aware, draft position is a supremely important input in predicting fantasy RBs. As a result, the list that follows will surely shift after the NFL draft. In the meantime, here’s a quick overview of the elements that I’ve placed significant emphasis on:
- Breakaway Rush Score (BRS)
- Speed Score
- Total collegiate production and RB dominator
- Early contributions to team offense
- Receiving ability
