Myles Gaskin Tries to Reverse a Late-Round RB Trend and Ja’Marr Chase Goes Supernova: Week 5 in Review

Blair Andrews examines a crazy week, including the Myles Gaskin performance that will hopefully silence doubters for good.

Week 5 saw four different teams score over 40 points (and one of those teams still lost), and culminated in a come-from-way-behind, overtime win for the Ravens on Monday night with Lamar Jackson passing for 442 yards and four touchdowns. Despite that, it was a disappointing week for many fantasy teams, as Saquon Barkley injured his ankle just as it was starting to look like he was back to his old form.

Several other developments that might be just as important perhaps went unnoticed, however. But we can find these numbers in the Monday Review tool, and determine whether they are new trends we need to pay attention to, or traps we should let our opponents fall into.

Sam Wallace has you covered with 20 players to consider for your Week 5 waiver claims, plus some bonus dynasty targets. Shawn Siegele offers key takeaways from the last week and a love letter to Dan Campbell.

Troy Franklin Checks (Almost) All the Boxes and Is the Steal of Every Draft

When we’re talking about players who check all the boxes, we typically mean that they are players who perhaps don’t jump off the page, yet they do a little bit of everything. Film-Based Scouting, the Analytics Wars, and the Value of Highlights: The Ricky Pearsall Conundrum

Years ago it was fashionable to argue about whether NFL prospect scouting should rely on film-based evaluation, or on the analytics and “box score scouting.” If the “analytics wars” don’t seem as contentious now, it’s mainly because most people are tired of arguing. But it’s also because those who championed film-based scouting have in many ways come to see the value of the advanced analytical…...
