If you missed my first article introducing the “Joe 2 Pro” series, you can read it here. It gives a brief overview on how to attack daily fantasy sports without feeling like you’re drowning. What I am trying to do with the Joe 2 Pro series is bring up topics that I wish I knew about when I had first started playing. There’s definitely a learning curve when you go from seasonal leagues to daily play.
Week 4 was an insanely high scoring week. All except one of these lineups cashed in the 50/50s where I missed it by three spots. I entered 40 H2H games this week to try something different. I managed to win 22 of the 40. Which is still profiting, but it was much worse than I fared the previous week where I cashed in 86 percent of my cash games. I owe a lot of my profit to Travis Kelce this week because my outcome was looking pretty bleak prior to the Monday night game. I am pretty content with this outcome since I didn’t have any shares of Antonio Brown, Steve Smith, Randall Cobb, or Jordy Nelson. I wasn’t buying into Smith this year because he seems to be the league leader in flukey touchdowns. Oops. My cash game article prior to this week recommended Brandin Cooks, Cobb, and Julian Edelman based on the corners they’d be facing, I definitely chose the wrong set. The process was correct, but the result wasn’t what I was looking for.
Here’s my best and worst GPP lineup this week. The Saints stack was a little depressing for me. I thought they’d produce a lot better than what they did. Andre Holmes was a last-second addition for minimum salary once the Raiders injury news broke out and it worked out for the better. The 49ers stack was not what I had hoped it would’ve been after the Eagles just got picked apart by Kirk Cousins. In my opinion, Colin Kapernick continues to be somewhat mediocre.
My two FanDuel cash game lineups didn’t do quite as well as DraftKings this week. I actually lost money on FanDuel. All of my profit this week came from DraftKings. I wish FanDuel would get rid of their kicker position. It’s a dumb position to have to worry about and it creates so much variance in your lineups. Kickers have the potential to make our break your FanDuel teams. However, I’m not blaming my losses on the kicker position this week, I just needed to vent a little.. Five single-digit performances from my team on the right certainly didn’t help my cause. In my 50/50 games on FanDuel this week, not having some of those scoring leaders hurt big time. Antonio Brown had over 40 percent ownership and Steve Smith was well over 20 percent. I should’ve kept Kelce in my other cash game lineup on FanDuel, just like I did for DraftKings. I would’ve done much better had I done that like I normally do, but I wanted to hedge a little on the off-chance Kelce put up a dud.
My best and worst lineups on FanDuel for the GPPs didn’t do too great this week. The one on the right managed to cash a whopping $12 in one of the GPPs. I think Donald Brown hurt numerous people this week. If you managed to fade him in some of your games for similarly priced Matt Asiata, you definitely had an edge on your opponent. I’m ready to shake off this Week 4 and take on Week 5.
Through Week 4, I have profited every week so far. While I didn’t profit on FanDuel this week, I still came out ahead thanks to DraftKings. I hope this series has helped you guys as much as it has helped me. Good luck to everyone in Week 5.
