How Old is Too Old for a Fantasy Running Back?

The following is a repost from FantasyDouche.com. I’ve posted before on the effects that age might have wide receivers and coaches.  I’ve even posted on running backs, although I looked at running back yards/carry rather than any fantasy football measure.  Based on a request from @vote4parag on Twitter I took a look at running backs from a fantasy standpoint…....

The Scouting Model vs. The Algorithm

This piece was originally published on FantasyDouche.com in spring of 2012 and addresses fantasy scoring only – although fantasy scoring is actually a pretty good proxy for our collective impression of what makes a good wide receiver.  To put it another way, try to think of a successful real world receiver who isn’t a successful fantasy receiver.  This piece pits a model that includes simple…...

Looking at Mike Wallace in Roethlisberger’s Games Only

One potential point that the pro-Mike Wallace crowd might have is that Roethlisberger only played a partial season last year.  In order to address this point I used the WR Similarity Score tool and threw out the games that Wallace appeared in that Roethlisberger did not…....

Primer on Using the Similarity Score Apps

I’ve had a few questions recently about how to interpret the similarity score apps and what information can be gleaned from using them.  I figured I should get a post together to address some common questions…....

According to ProFootballTalk, the Mike Wallace/Dolphins contract is essentially a 3 year, $37 million contract with team options for the additional years.  I thought it might be interesting to look at Wallace’s career trajectory in light of the fact that Wallace’s cap number will be $17 million next year (2014) and then $12 million the following year.  Wallace is going to be a 27 year…...

Video: DeAndre Hopkins Workout

This is a really short video, but I did think it was interesting because you can see how big Hopkins’ hands are.  There’s also a video on Youtube of Hopkins catching 33 straight balls from the JUGS machine… with one hand.  …...

RotoViz is Hiring Contributors… Sort Of!

If you clicked on this link because you saw “hiring,” I have some good news and some bad news.  The good news is that we actually are paying contributors.  The bad news (not really bad actually) is that this is entirely a situation where there is an opportunity as large as you’re willing to make out of it. Get Money Y’all The economic side of…...

Quick React to the Percy Harvin Trade

I’ll be honest here and say that I’m pretty terrified to say anything bad about the the Seahawks personnel moves given that they’ve been ridiculous at pulling rabbits out of hats. However, I have nothing if not hubris, so let me offer a quick reason why I don’t like the trade – I don’t think Percy Harvin is different enough from Golden Tate to really…...

Knile Davis Comparables

As a follow on to my post about Eddie Lacy in which I offered that I tend not to pay attention to Speed Scores for running backs because usage is so much more important, I thought I would post on Knile Davis, who has a ridiculous Speed Score…....
